Hanging Clothes to Dry

Turn clothes inside out when hanging them in the sun. This reduces fading.

If you have more laundry than line space, hang clothes crosswise between two clotheslines -- you can fit a lot more in the same space.

Some items, such as towels or work clothes, take longer to dry on the clothesline than others. Wash these items first to give them longer drying time. Wash shirts last. If you run out of daylight, they can be put on hangers and hung on the shower rod inside to finish drying.

In fact, if you have things to hang up to dry, but it's raining or you have no outside place to hang them, you can use wire or plastic hangers like miniature lines. A lot of hangers will fit on a shower rod!

If you hang your clothes to dry in the basement or bathroom, turn on a fan to circulate the air and they will dry much more quickly.
